Alexander Global proves itself as a project logistics leader
Founding member of the Project Logistics Alliance from Germany, Alexander Global Logistics has once again proven themselves as a leader in the project logistics industry.
The Bremen-based company recently handled and coordinated a delivery of an approximately 2.000 tons of equipment bound for a waste-to-energy plant.
The cargo comprised: 2x generators each weighing 200 tons with a dimension of 00 x 4.00 x 3.60 meters; 2x turbines each weighing 125 tons and measuring 8.5 x 3.80 x 3.65 meters; 4x electrical houses each weighing 30 tons with a measurement of 9 x 4.2 x 4.4 meters; 40 standard trucks.
Alexander Global Logistics successfully collected the turbines and generators from the manufacturer near the Elbe River and loaded them onto trucks. Typically, the cargo would be transported via the Elbe River, but due to low water levels caused by a drought, it was not possible to use the river for any seaport shipment. In order to mitigate the risk, the Alexander Global Logistics team, leveraging their strong relationship with German authorities and expertise in problem-solving, decided to find an alternative route. They opted to transport the turbines via the Mittelland Canal, using the port of Haldensleben. This decision ensured the safety of the project, as the Mittelland Canal maintains a sufficient water level throughout the year. Ultimately, the turbines and generators were successfully delivered to the Hamburg seaport. Simultaneously, 40 standard trucks transported the cargo directly from the Czech Republic and Slovakia to Hamburg. The AGL team efficiently managed all the necessary formalities at the port and the cargo then continued its journey to Saudi Arabia on a breakbulk vessel.
The successful completion of this project serves as further evidence of Alexander Global Logistics’ extensive experience and profound expertise in the project logistics industry.
