Bollore Logistics completes Managing for Team Wellbeing training

Mental Health is a key component of overall health and well-being.

In Australia, the National Study of Mental Health and Wellbeing conducted in 2021 found that an estimated 1 in 5 (21%) Australians aged 16–85 experienced a mental disorder in the previous 12 months. Mental illness is one of the leading causes of sickness absence and long-term work incapacity in Australia.

Bolloré Logistics Australia proactively supports that mental health & safety. Our Erskine Park and Melbourne sites recently completed Managing for Team Wellbeing awareness training, a 3-hour interactive and facilitated workshop led by an experienced Psychologist from the Black Dog Institute to train People Managers on this topic.

A total of 25 managers and supervisors from Erskine Park and Melbourne sites attended the workshop. The interactive training focused on the prevalence of mental health issues, changes in team behaviour (and what it means), developing skills needed to have effective conversations, additional resources available and effective behaviours to promote wellbeing within their team.

Team leaders from Bolloré Logistics Australia who attended the training shared their feedback: “I think the training was successful in raising awareness of what mental health is and providing simple tools to help identify when people may be struggling with their mental health. Since the training, many conversations have been initiated with the various participants, which is already a success! – Tony Clark (Site Manager – Erskine Park)

“The training was very insightful and provided good examples of how to deal with challenging topics in a responsible way. This was worthwhile for our teams and leaders to ensure we are well-versed on the subject matter of Mental Health.” – David Guarnera (State Manager – VIC / SA)

“It was important to raise awareness among our teams to help them understand and support people who are going through difficult times with themselves. We need to be vigilant and ensure we are creating an environment of support and working towards eliminating contributing factors that may in some sort of further trigger or impact the individual at work. I think training and awareness of these things is a very big step forward as a business.” – Cesur Yavuz (Melbourne Contract Logistics Manager)
