Baltic Enabler arrives in Europe

DURING THE FORENOON of 18 August 2022, the record-breaking vessel Baltic Enabler passed the Wandelaar pilot station on its way into the port of Zeebrugge and its first European call on its maiden voyage from the shipyard in China.

On 25 August, Baltic Enabler will begin plying her regular route, which she will share with her sister ship, Botnia Enabler.

“Having both ships in regular traffic is an important milestone for us and for our customers. This means we now have a capacity of 962 TEU on the Zeebrugge-Antwerp-Kokkola-Oulu-Kemi-Skellefteå-Travemünde route. Every week,” says Ragnar Johansson, Managing Director WALLENIUS SOL.

The vessel is the second of WALLENIUS SOL’s highly acclaimed newly built vessels. Even before they entered regular traffic, they were nominated as ‘RoRo Vessels of the Year’ and they are classed as the world’s largest ice-rated ConRo vessels with multi-fuel operation. Both Baltic Enabler and Botnia Enabler have the highest possible green classification, which was among the most important requirements when the ships were designed.

“Because many of our customers base their entire operation on the green transition, we must match them. These vessels enable us to do so. The Enabler vessels emit 63 per cent less greenhouse gases and substantially less NOx (96 per cent), SOx (99 per cent) and particulates (99 per cent) than older vessels,” says Ragnar Johansson.
