Energy and marine consultancy ABL has been awarded a contract by OWP Gennaker to provide marine warranty survey and marine assurance services to support the safe and efficient construction of the Gennaker offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Gennaker offshore wind farm is set to become the largest offshore wind farm in the German Baltic Sea. Located approximately 15 kilometres off the German coast, the Gennaker wind farm will have an nstalled capacity of around 976 MW and feature 63 high-capacity wind turbine generators.<\/p>\n

The combination of large-capacity wind turbine generators and construction activities taking place within Germany\u2019s 12-nautical-mile zone significantly increases the project\u2019s marine risk. In addition to complex offshore lifting and installation activities, the project presents navigational and coastal challenges, requiring careful assurance planning and execution in a busy maritime environment.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Gennaker offshore wind farm combines next-generation wind turbine generator technology with the additional complexity of coastal offshore wind development in a highly trafficked maritime area. ABL brings a strong Baltic Sea track record, multidisciplined marine and engineering expertise, and advanced navigational risk analysis capabilities to support risk reduction and clarity throughout the marine transportation and installation (T&I) phase.\u201d Tilo Klappenbach, Country Manager, ABL Germany.<\/p>\n

ABL\u2019s German operations, based in Hamburg, will lead the project, drawing on the expertise of the company\u2019s regional renewables team and its extensive offshore wind experience across the Baltic Sea. The team will deliver independent marine warranty survey (MWS) and marine assurance services, including the technical review and approval of project documentation, marine suitability and HSE inspections of the proposed fleet, and on-site attendance to witness and approve warranted marine operations in accordance with approved procedures.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Baltic Sea is one of Europe\u2019s most active offshore wind markets, and ABL has built a strong regional track record supporting major offshore wind construction programmes across the region. This regional expertise, combined with valuable local insight and practical experience, will support the successful delivery of the Gennaker project,\u201d continues Klappenbach.<\/p>\n
