On March 12, 2026, DEME has officially signed the 25\u2011year concession contract1 with Brazil\u2019s National Secretariat of Ports (SNP) and the National Waterway Transportation Agency (ANTAQ), formally securing Brazil\u2019s port access channel concession for the Port of Paranagu\u00e1. <\/strong><\/p>\n

The Paranagu\u00e1 Port Channel Company SPE S.A., owned by DEME and FTS Participa\u00e7\u00f5es Societ\u00e1rias S.A. (FTS), will carry out the full scope of works for the Port of Paranagu\u00e1 – Brazil\u2019s second\u2011largest public port in the state of Paran\u00e1. With all administrative steps now completed, DEME and FTS can move forward with the next phase of mobilization and implementation.<\/p>\n

Following the successful auction in October 2025, in which DEME and FTS secured the 25-year concession, this final step officially entrusts the consortium with the operation, maintenance, improvement, and deepening of the marine access channel to the Port of Paranagu\u00e1.<\/p>\n

The Port of Paranagu\u00e1 plays a pivotal role in the handling of agribulk, containers, and liquid bulk, with annual throughput exceeding 70 million tons. The planned deepening of the channel – increasing draft capacity from 13.3 m to 15.5 m – together with ongoing maintenance dredging and enhancements to the nautical signaling system, will significantly boost operational efficiency and enable larger vessels to call at the port. These improvements further reinforce Paranagu\u00e1\u2019s position as one of South America\u2019s foremost export gateways.<\/p>\n

The signing ceremony took place yesterday in Brasilia, in the presence of key authorities, including the President of Brazil, Luiz In\u00e1cio Lula da Silva, the Chief of Staff of the Presidency, Rui Costa, and the Minister of Ports and Airports, Silvio Costa Filho DEME\u2019s partner, FTS Participa\u00e7\u00f5es Societ\u00e1rias S.A., is an established port terminal and logistics operator active in the Port of Paranagu\u00e1 and several other Brazilian ports.<\/p>\n
