At Harbour West Marina, we believe meaningful environmental change is rooted in everyday actions. <\/strong><\/p>\n

This spring, we proudly introduced our Shrink Wrap Recycling Program, an initiative that anchors our commitment to sustainability as part of our Clean Marine Certification.<\/p>\n

We are delighted to share, Harbour West Marina achieved Diamond Status in the Clean Marine program, attaining an impressive compliance score of 93%. This milestone reflects our dedication to environmental excellence and leadership within our community.<\/p>\n

Our success is built on collaboration, and we are especially grateful for our partnership with Alpha Paper Products, a valued port tenant. Their support has been instrumental in addressing the challenge of boat shrink wrap waste.<\/p>\n

Each spring, the removal of plastic shrink wrap from winterized boats presents a significant challenge for marinas across the region. This year, our team collected and recycled shrink wrap from approximately 150 boats, diverting more than 6,600 LBS (approx. 3,000 KG) of plastic from Hamilton\u2019s landfill.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are proud to support projects like this that unite industry partners and the community for lasting environmental impact,\u201d said Rory McGuinness, Manager at Harbour West Marina. \u201cIt is part of HOPA\u2019s mission to be good stewards of the land, water and air. This project allows us to divert a significant amount of plastic that would otherwise go to landfill. We are pleased with the results of the first year for this program and look forward to continuing this good work next season.\u201d<\/p>\n

Reducing plastic waste safeguards the environment, supports recycling, and helps keep our waterways clean for wildlife and residents.<\/p>\n

The success of our inaugural year demonstrates what is possible when we work together as a community. We are looking forward to building on this foundation and further enhancing our positive impact next season.<\/p>\n
